Does it hurt?

Some types of treatment may cause discomfort but should not hurt. You will be told what to expect at the initial consultation. It is normal to feel a little sore or stiff after treatment.


What should I wear?

As with any medical examination it may be necessary to undress to your underwear. However, if you’d prefer, light or loose fitting clothes are suitable in most cases.


How many treatments will it take to get me better?

The number of treatments required greatly varies depending on the person and the type and duration of the injury. Therefore it is very difficult to estimate an exact number of treatments. However, in most cases we aim to treat a condition within 3 or 4 treatments.


Is osteopathy safe?

Yes, extensive training over 4 years plus regulation by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) ensures that osteopaths have the necessary skills to practice safely and effectively. Only people registered with the GOsC can legally call themselves an osteopath.


Can I claim on my medical insurance?

Yes, Alex is registered with AXA, Cigna, Prudential, Aviva and Simply Health (formally HSA) among others. Please ask for further details.


Do I need to see my doctor first?

You do not need to see your doctor first if you are paying privately for your treatment. However, some insurance companies will require a doctors referral should you want to claim the cost through them.
